The Abundance Project
Rooted in Connection, Curiosity and Contribution
We are a cooperative group of families reimagining what education can be — vibrant, intentional, and led by the passions of children. Nestled on 14.5 acres of beautiful, usable land, our community gathers in a one-of-a-kind home community dome featuring an indoor koi pond, "classrooms," kitchen, cozy nooks, and expansive indoor-outdoor play areas. Chickens roam the property, gardens grow with care, and imaginations thrive.
At The Abundance Project, learning is alive and child-led. We offer a flexible, responsive model that blends the freedom of self-directed education with the richness of community, nature, and real-world experience. Children are free to explore, create, and connect — choosing offerings that inspire them and following through on commitments they help shape.
A core element of our program is entrepreneurial learning. Children are guided through the full arc of bringing ideas to life — from dreaming and planning to prototyping, budgeting, and sharing their creations with others. Whether starting a boba tea stand, launching a handmade chocolate line, rescuing animals, or developing an herbal product, learners are supported in building real-world skills with purpose and integrity. These adventures are not just economic experiments — they’re opportunities for children to discover what excites them, take initiative, and experience the joy of contribution.
By weaving together creativity, community care, self-direction, and entrepreneurship, The Abundance Project helps children grow into confident, capable, and compassionate changemakers.

Location
The Abundance Project is rooted in a cozy, home community dome set on 14.5 acres of beautiful land off Bitney Springs Road in Nevada City, CA. Our community space features a small farm with chickens, soon-to-be trampoline, trees to climb, a seasonal pool, walking trails, and wide-open natural spaces where children are free to roam, explore, and imagine. It’s a place where curiosity is nurtured and deep connections to nature can flourish.
-
Tuition
We are committed to making self-directed, community-based learning accessible to families of all backgrounds. Our tuition ranges from $250 to $350 per month and $550 for our younger ages, allowing each family to choose a contribution that aligns with their family and financial circumstances.
If you have the means and feel led to contribute, we would greatly appreciate your support with the extra supplies and materials we need.
-
Schedule & Rhythm
We meet Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and offer both 2-day and 4-day enrollment options. Families are encouraged to select the schedule that best supports their needs. Our rhythm balances open play, community time, collaborative offerings, and personal exploration — all rooted in respect for each child’s unique pace and interests.
-
Offerings & Explorations
Our offerings are shaped by the passions and contributions of the families enrolled. Children partner with parents to design and share learning experiences — from starting micro-businesses like animal rescue projects, chocolate making, or boba tea stands, to leading art, nature crafts, storytelling circles, or science experiments. We also invite guest speakers and skilled facilitators to enrich our days with workshops and mentorship. Participation in offerings is always by choice, and learners are encouraged to follow through with commitments they make.
-
Academic Support (optional)
For children who are academically inclined or seeking more structured support, we offer optional tutoring and small-group sessions in subjects like math, language arts, and science for an additional tuition fee. These sessions are designed to align with each child’s developmental readiness and learning style while preserving their autonomy.
